How to Obtain a Global G.A.P Certification?

The GLOBALG.A.P. Fruit & Vegetables Standard covers all stages of production, from pre-harvest activities such as soil management and plant protection product application to post-harvest produce handling, packing and storing.
The GLOBALG.A.P. Checklist is the document you need to complete your self- assessment.
The Control Points and Compliance Criteria (CPCC) document lists everything the standard you are applying for covers, and gives you addtional guidelines to fulfill the requirements.
The General Regulations document defines how the certification process works and lists the requirements for quality management systems and related issues.
The National Interpretation Guideline (NIG) clarifies how the CPCC have been adapted in a specific country. Please check if there is a NIG for your country. If yes, you are required to use it.
5 Steps to Get Certified
1. Download the relevant GLOBALG.A.P. Standard Documents and Checklists from our document center or follow the link on the relevant standard page.
2. Compare offers from the certification bodies in your country, register with the one you choose and get your GLOBALG.A.P. Number (GGN). Find a full list of GLOBALG.A.P. approved certification bodies here.
3. Carry out a self-assessment using the checklist and correct all the points you don’t comply with. Here a GLOBALG.A.P. Licensed Farm Assurer can provide you with valuable assistance during your audit preparations. Find a full list of GLOBALG.A.P. Licenced Farm Assurers here.
4. Arrange an appointment with your GLOBALG.A.P. approved certification body. An inspector will then conduct the first on-site inspection.
5. Once you successfully comply with the standard’s requirements, you will receive a GLOBALG.A.P. Integrated Farm Assurance Standard certificate for the relevant Version and Scope which is valid for one year.

Harmonized Produce Safety Standard (HPSS)
The Harmonized Produce Safety Standard (HPSS) is a new food safety standard managed and operated by GLOBALG.A.P. In contrast to GLOBALG.A.P.’s Integrated Farm Assurance Standard (IFA), the HPSS — like the current Produce Safety Standard (PSS) — covers only food safety and traceability.
The core of the standard is the combination of the United Fresh Produce GAPs Harmonization Initiative’s “Field Operations and Harvesting” and “Post-Harvest Operations” Standards. These standards were previously approved as the USA National Interpretation Guidelines (NIGLs) for IFA and PSS; but are now auditable as the basis of an accredited standard. The HPSS will be submitted for GFSI benchmarking.
