In previous posts, we have discussed various procedures within Blasco Fruit through which the quality of all our products is ensured. A fundamental element for monitoring this quality is traceability.
In addition to the department exclusively responsible for the numbering, labeling, and monitoring of each product batch, the role of the dispatch manager is essential from the moment the fruit arrives until its subsequent shipment to the client. Therefore, let us look at some of their functions in detail:
Initially, when the fruit arrives from the field to the warehouse, this person is responsible for identifying the product’s origin, weighing it, and assigning it a traceability code.
During the production process, they take into account pending orders to monitor their progress. Furthermore, they take photographs during the process so that the quality of the fruit is documented from entry to exit.
Once the fruit has been packed, treated in the chamber, and kept in cold storage, it is ready for shipment to the client. At this stage, the dispatch manager handles all logistics: communicating with carriers, assigning loading schedules, completing the necessary documentation, etc. Additionally, they are responsible for supervising and photographing the load, as well as assisting the quality manager in performing the relevant checks (temperature, firmness, etc.) before the goods are dispatched.
Finally, if the transport is to last several days, they will place a thermograph to monitor that the temperature of the refrigerated truck remains appropriate throughout the journey, thus ensuring the correct preservation of the fruit.
